ABSTRACT
Mr P.C. Taylor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Cape Town, South Africa where he is pursuing PhD research into the fatigue characteristics of fly ash mortars. Prof R.B. Tait is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His present research work concerns various aspects of fracture mechanics and slow crack growth in brittle materials including cement mortars, tungsten carbide, ceramics and rock.
