ABSTRACT

In general we have two situations (Fig 1); the first (Case A) in which we have a machine producing the vibration which we want to separate from the surrounding structure to protect the structure, and the second (Case B) in which we have a piece of equipment, such as a precision grinder, which we want to protect from vibrations in the structure caused by other operations. To overcome both of these problems, we will place a resilient member between the machine and the supporting structure shown in Case B. The selection and installation of such resilient members will form the basis of this chapter.
