ABSTRACT

A b s t r a c t Blends o f o r d i n a r y P o r t l a n d cement w i t h d i f f e r e n t p a r t s o f s i l i c a fume have been used f o r mixing of mortars i n which the s u p e r p l a s t i c i z e r and a i r - e n t r a i n i n g agent demand was i n v e s t i g a t e d . M o r t a r s were prepared w i t h a water-binder r a t i o o f 0.6 .The f r e s h mix c o n s i s t a n c y (measured by f l o w t a b l e t e s t ) , t h e components blends p r o p o r t i o n s , m i c r o - s i e v e a n a l y s i s and the p a r t i c l e s i z e d i s t r i b u t i o n (measured by sensing zone method) o f an­ hydrous cement blends as w e l l as the added HWR-and AEA-agent q u a n t i t y were considered.The r e s u l t s have shown t h a t by the i n c r e a s e o f the f i n e p a r t i c l e s share i n anhydrous b l e n d s , i . e . t h e i r s p e c i f i c s u r f a c e i n c r e a s e r i s e d a l s o the admixtures demand i n f r e s h mortars which are made w i t h such cements.
