ABSTRACT

Steel load-bearing structures are normally used in large and important objects,

so the failure of these structures often endanger human lives and the environment,

as well as causing great economic losses. The term, 'failure', includes serious faults,

damage and defects that lead to a total loss of both reliability and function, either

of a part or the whole structure. One of the most important factors that can reduce

the number and seriousness of failures is education in the knowledge gained in

this field during engineering studies at universities.
