ABSTRACT
This chapter will introduce heat transfer and its modelling in the context of structural engineering for fire safety. It will start from the simple topic of one-dimensional steady state heat conduction, leading to formulations of 3D transient state heat transfer equations to be used in various numerical heat transfer analyses.
