ABSTRACT
Clearly, the progress that has been made since 1990 in the areas of adaptive aerostructures and active flight control is significant. Because the benefits of lighter weight, lower volume, higher bandwidth, less power consumption, greater reliability and system-level simplicity have been demonstrated over and over again on aircraft ranging from hovering helicopters through supersonic munitions, it is easy to see that a new era of flight control is just around the comer.
