Abstract.Coronadischargeinthepresenceofpolymerbarrierleadsto unexpectedbehaviortrend.Suddenswitchingtoalowermagnitudeproduces oneofthreeoutcomes:1)amodifiedTrichel-pulsingregime,2)aquiescence regime,or3)aninverse-pulsingregime.Iftheswitchingisonlyofamoderate magnitude,Trichel-likepulsingcontinues,butmerelywithitsrepetitionrate somewhatreduced.Ifswitchingmagnitudeissevereenough,thepresenceofthe surfacechargewillbegintooffsetandsuppressthelocalLaplacianfieldBy sharplyreducingtheinter-electrodedistance,regimeofquiescencecouldbe suppressed,resultinginthecoexistenceofbothchargingandinversepulses.In effect,abasicDC-ACconversionmechanismisestablished.Thisreportgives observeddetailsofthefirstevidencefromexperimentsconducted.
