ABSTRACT

AgrowinginterestinEHDsprayingisspurredmainlybynewapplicationssuchas electrostaticpainting,fuelatomizationincombustionsystems,drugdelivery,emulsification, microincapsulation,cropspraying,scrubbingetc.,aschargingofdropletscanenhancethe efficiencyoftheseprocesses.TheEHDsprayingalsoextendsthedropletsizeavailablefrom conventionalmechanicalatomizerstoalowersizerange.ThedropletsgeneratedbytheEHD methodpossesselectricalcharge,l!SuallyequaltoafractionoftheRayleighlimit,i.e.,afew ordersofmagnitudegreaterthantheelementarycharge.Thechargeonthedroplets significantlyinfluencestheelectrodynamicpropertiesofanaerosol.
