ABSTRACT

Abstract. Data on the atmospheric neutrinos lead to high confidence level conclusion that neutrinos have non-zero masses and mixing. With new data we will be able to make next step: to study the sub-leading effects in the atmospheric neutrinos which will allow us to identify the channel of neutrino oscilations, measure Ue3 and establish possible role of solar 6.m2 . As far as the solar neutrinos are concerned, the existing data do not allow to identify unique oscillation solution. Signatures of various solutions are at the level 20', and moreover various sets of the data testify for different solutions. Recent theoretical developments - theories with low fundamental scale of quantum gravity and large (compact) extra dimensions - give new "bulk - brane" mechanism of generation of neutrino mass. These theories provide alternative understanding of smallness of the neutrino mass, origin of mixing and existence of new "sterile" states. In this framework new solution of the solar neutrino problem is possible via resonance conversion of the electron neutrino to the bulk states.
