ABSTRACT
Abstract. We review our recent experimental work on the use of optical phase of laser beams to generate and coherently control electrical and spin currents in bulk semiconductors. These effects can be induced through quantum interference between optical absorption pathways but at a macro scopic level can also be interpreted as manifestations of nonlinear optics.
