ABSTRACT

Abstract. Pulsed laser ablation has been used to prepare in situ multilayer YBCO thin films on buffered curved Ni-based, textured substrates. Standard buffer layer architecture (Ce02/YSZ/Ce0 2) was employed to improve the epitaxy of the YBCO layer and STO was used to insulate the YBCO layers . Tc measurement and X-ray 9-29 scan of curved samples showed similar superconducting and structural properties to those achieved on flat surfaces. The microstructures and interfaces of the multilayers were characterized using electron microscopy particularly cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (XTEM).
