ABSTRACT

Bayazit (2004) draws a detailed picture of the history of design research, starting in the early 20th century. He first presents precursor movements (such as De Stijl and Bauhaus) and then authors with social psychology, ergonomics, and cultural-anthropology orientations (such as Broadbent and colleagues) and engineering-oriented authors (such as Hubka, Eder, Asimov, Ullman, Archer). He closes with a discussion of artificial-intelligence and other cognitive-science researchers.
