ABSTRACT

Below a company’s top management, but above the designers involved in the day-today design process are the middle level executives who typically commission and administer the product development projects. Middle management requires a delicate touch to maintain the correct balance between the stated corporate objectives driven by senior management and the practical limitations faced by designers in trying to develop products to meet potentially conflicting design requirements. The aim of this chapter is to help provide project managers with the material to establish more inclu sive design briefs and also provides mechanisms for reviewing the progress of the prod uct accessibility and keeping the design teams focused and motivated.
