ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a brief case study of the re-design of an interface for a quite complex prototype rehabilitation robot. Rehabilitation robots were a popular topic for research in the 1980s and 90s. It was commonly thought that if robots could be designed that could perform routine everyday tasks, then they could be used to assist someone with a severe motor impairment and who consequently experienced diffi culty performing many of the tasks that are required in everyday life, including for employment.
