ABSTRACT
We see three common denominators in all misuses. First, the writer or investigator does not understand the data that are used or reported. Second, the writer or researcher does not understand the quantitative methodology. The methodology may be simple or complex; without understanding of how it was devised or when particular techniques are appropriate, misuse results. Third, the writer or investigator fails to proceed logically from purpose to measurement to analysis to conclusions.
