ABSTRACT
There is no doubt that the creation of the Channel Tunnel, the two operational terminals, and the design and provision of the vast amount of equipment, both fixed and moving, is a tremendous achievement in engineering terms. However the ongoing task is to operate the system unfailingly and efficiently in order to provide the service which customers rightly expect, and to repay the investors and lenders for their confidence in the project from the outset.
