ABSTRACT
An essential part of that is the introduction of innovation into practice in a sensible and responsible manner, while integrating it into the current wisdom and practices. Unfortunately, we have no structured framework for doing that. It could be said that much research is second hand, in having to pass through several pairs of hands before application; inevitably, much is lost in this translation - time, understanding, efficiency. It is often said, truthfully, that the construction industry is fragmented, and this is particularly true in its attitude and use of R&D.
