ABSTRACT
The actual construction of a 50 km-long Channel Tunnel up to 50 metres below the sea tested the ingenuity and skills of the top minds in the European and American construction industry. Although the tunnelling itself was not expected to require the use of any novel technology, the logistics of the whole operation were more complex than anyone imagined.
