ABSTRACT

Mass discharge of single or multi-component granular systems from largescale silos is one of the major areas of interest in process industries. Filling methods of the silos and flow behaviour of granules during discharge play a very important role in the quality of the final product and therefore all research in this area has been focused on the prediction of the flow behav iour of granules within the silo, using various theoretical methods based either on continuum mechanics principles or on empirical correlations resulting from model experiments and computer simulations.
