ABSTRACT

Abstract This paper is about mixed mode fatigue due to traffic load. Last works assume parameters of Paris law in opening mode in order to predict life time of pavements structures. A new fatigue crack test in mixed mode has been conceived. The obtained results indicate that mixed mode parameters differ from those in opening mode. Finite element models of cracked pavements structures under traffic load show that they give a lower crack velocity than mode I parameters. This methodology contributes to better modelize fatigue of pavement structures under traffic loads. Keywords: Crack propagation, Mixed mode, Fatigue, Bituminous concrete, Finite element model.
