Test methods for linear measurement of autogenous shrinkage before setting

Abstract The relations between chemical shrinkage, bleeding, settlement, autogenous volumetric and linear shrinkage in the initial phase (before and during setting) of pastemortar-concrete, has been discussed in order to arrive at a meaningful and reliable method to measure the linear autogenous shrinkage of concrete. The paper is based on own measurements as well as data and test method descriptions found in the literature.
