ABSTRACT

The proportion of developed land within the Moscow agglomeration, decreases from its core to its periphery and ranges from 60 to 20 per cent respectively. The proportion of land in the three Moscow zones used for municipal and rural economic activity is similar (60 per cent for the city, 70 per cent for FPPB, and 60 per cent for OBSZ). The proportion of agricultural lands in comparison with urbanised land increases towards the outer borders of the agglomeration (Table 20.1). Surface water covers 5 per cent of the total area of the agglomeration.
