ABSTRACT
Highway drainage, although essentially designed on the same principles as surface water drainage for urban catchments, differs in the nature of the run-off and the fact that all drainage is shed from the road surface by the camber or cross-fall of the road. Highway drainage is the responsibility of the highway authority and not the sewerage undertaker, unless the pipe conveys water that is predominantly from roofs and other off-highway paved areas.
