ABSTRACT

Abstract Practical needs demand constitutive laws for concrete under extremely rapid loading. A report is given on research projects done at the University of Karlsruhe concerning extremely high pressures and the mostly unavoidable adiabatic heating at fast loading as it occurs at impact, blasting e.g. Also a new physical approach to model the strain rate effect is presented including a constitutive model and its first experimental verification. Keywords: Blast loading, constitutive laws, dynamic loads, extreme volumetric compression, Shockwaves, strain rate.
