ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION The generation o f genetically modified animals by transgenic technology is an increasingly important tool in the field of hypertension. Transgenesis affords the opportunity to analyze gene function and regulation in vivo, alter the level o f expression of specific genes, ablate specific cell types, generate tissue-spe cific tumors from which differentiated cell lines can be derived, and generate and refine disease models.
