ABSTRACT

Image enhancement is a problem-oriented procedure and the goal of image en­ hancement is to improve the visual appearance of the image, or to provide ” better” transform representation for future automated image processing. Methods of image enhancement techniques can be generally classified into two categories: spatial do­ main methods, which operate directly on pixels, including region-based and rationalmorphology-based, and frequency domain methods. To the first category, we can refer to the methods that are based on gray-level histogram modification [1, 2], local contrast transformation and edge analysis [3]-[6], or to ” global” entropy transfor­ mation [7].
