ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the main goal of our research is introduced and the introductory information from the set, group, linear, and discrete unitary transform theories are given. Basic concepts and notation required for reading this book are discussed. Concepts of coverings and partitions that open the mathematical structure of uni tary transforms are introduced, and problems raised with construction and analysis of such coverings, as well as examples of coverings for one-dimensional (1-D) and two-dimensional (2-D) transformations are described.
