ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to review the present state of knowledge about the thermodynamics and the kinetics of electron transfer (ET) through the liquidliquid (LL) interface. A few reviews have already been written about the topic or some of its aspects [ 1 -7], but the objective ofthis chapter is to describe the subject mainly from the point of view of an experimentalist, for chemists not familiar with the subject of the electron transfer through the liquid-liquid interface or even with electrochemistry at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES). This, of course, requires a preliminary brief description of the principles of charge transfer across the interface, of the electron in particular.
