The Role of Copper in Wood Preservation

There are a number of criteria that must be met by wood preservatives. Of particular importance are the requirements for toxicity to wood-destroying organisms, permanency in wood, and that the wood be free of objectionable surface characteristics (Hartford et al. 1973). As a consequence, it is important that these characteristics be considered in any discussion of wood preservatives.
