ABSTRACT

Naturally, the amount of a solvent should be one and the same in all cases, both in samples and standards. Due to the complexity of the processes of adsorption and desorption influenced by diffusion effects connected with the matrix viscosity, pores size, the effective diameter of the molecule of the substance studied, etc., it is impossible to make a general provision as to the time when an equilibrium between the gas and liquid phases has taken place. Thanks to the automatic hatching in the headspace technique it is possible to chromatograph samples periodically and when the peaks of the studied substance prove to be similar by area or height, then it may be assumed that the equilibrium has taken place.
