The SFC test, used for measuring the fiber/matrix interfacial shear strength as well as fiber strength, is a simple experimental procedure which involves completely embedding a single, preferably brittle, fiber along the center line of a relatively large dogbone shaped specimen of matrix material of interest and then straining the specimen uniaxially along the specimen (and the fiber) axis.
