ABSTRACT
Along with selecting a site and crops, site design is a critical step. Irrigation systems, fences, roads, and farm buildings are expensive to establish and often both difficult and expensive to change. Laying out a farm properly saves time, effort, and money in the long run. Create a design that will optimize (not necessarily maximize) yields and facilitate cultural practices, such as mowing cover crops, spraying, pruning, and harvesting.
