ABSTRACT
Urban areas include suburban and central city complexes (Thomas and Schneider, 1970). More than two-thirds of the nation’s population now reside in urban centers that occupy about 7 percent of the land area of the United States. By the year 2000, it is estimated that these areas will include threefourths of the nation’s population.
