ABSTRACT

Natural products which may be secondary metabolites produced by liv ing organisms have been exploited for a variety of purposes including their use as food, fragrances, pigments, insecticides and medicines. Through improved biological screening method, the role of natural prod ucts in drug discovery has been greatly enhanced in the last few years (Konig and Wright 1995). This is particularly true for marine natural products, which show an interesting array of diverse and novel chemical structures with potent biological activities.
