ABSTRACT

Lechriodus, Limnodynastes, Mixophyes, Neobatrachus (Fig. 5.31C), Notaden (Fig. 5.31 A) and Rheobatrachus the acrosome complex extends anteriorly well beyond the nucleus.

The nucleus is cylindro-conical, tapering to a rounded tip within the acrosome complex. It occupies most of the head length, is circular in transverse section, and composed of electron-dense condensed chromatin. Numerous small to large nuclear inclusions, which are electron-lucent or contain electron-pale material, are present (Fig. 5.31A). Distinct nuclear shoulders are absent. The nucleus increases in diameter throughout its length to a maximum basally. The nucleus ends basally in an asymmetrical and well-developed fossa (Fig. 5.31B,D).
