ABSTRACT

Trunks usually large, erect, unbranched. Fronds spirally arranged, mostly bipinnate, tripinnatifid, at times becoming tripinnate, rarely simply pinnate; base of stipes persistent, eventually caducous leaving pattern of scars on trunk. Sori either terminal on veins and protected by indusium and subreflexed edges of laminal lobing, or appearing not terminal on veins and not near edge of lamina, indusiate or not. Spores trilete; exospore smooth or sculptured; multiseptate paraphyses frequently present in between sporangia.
