ABSTRACT

The family Solanaceae, to which S. aethiopicum L. and 5. anguivi belong, is widely distributed throughout the tropical and temperate regions of the world. The family is known to contain several important food, medicinal, ornamental, and poisonous plants. Within this family, Solanum L. constitutes the largest and most complex genus [1]. It contains about 1,026 species of which approximately 450 species belong to the subgenus Leptostemonum to which 5. aethiopicum and S. anguivi are assigned [2].
