ABSTRACT
It is tempting to just skip over the whole area of legacy systems and, like so many of today’s technological gurus, simply write off the entire installed base of telecommunications systems prior to the introduction of computer-based packet systems. We could then just focus on the new exciting area of VoIP and completely ignore the past! The only problem is that the vast majority of the world’s voice telecom traffic today is carried by legacy systems.
