ABSTRACT
Circuit Switching The traditional telephone network is a circuit switched topology. This means that to create a communications channel between two (or more) parties, a channel has to be created end to end, and back again. These channels are usu ally full duplex, meaning that conversations can proceed simultaneously in both directions. Before the advent of digital techniques, a telephone circuit was a dedicated end-to-end channel whose purpose was to carry the signals necessary to conduct a telephone call.
