ABSTRACT
The transmission of video, high-speed data and video on the information superhighway requires to overcome long distances in a point-to-point or multipoint-to-multipoint environment. For these applications the packetization of all information and digitization for transmission on SONET survivable rings with ATM switches make sense and will provide the basis for the wideband switched network of the future.
