ABSTRACT

Many studies of mineral nutrition in blueberries have been well documented by Ballinger (1966), Cain and Eck (1966), Eck (1988), Gough (1994), Korcak (1988, 1989), and Tamada (1997a). These studies can be divided into three categories; the examination of physiological characteristics of blueberry plants; the establishment of fertilizer recommendations; and the diagnosis of nutrient condition. It is recognized that blueberries are acid loving plants, prefer ammonium nitrogen, and have lower inorganic leaf nutrient compositions than other fruit species. However, fertilizer requirements differ with climate, soil conditions, and varieties.
