ABSTRACT

Vegetables play an important role in the human diet by supplying plentiful nutrients and provide good returns to the farming community. The genus Cap sicum is used as a food condiment and medicine and also aesthetically as an ornamental crop in the garden among flowers. Growing vegetables commer cially or in the home garden provides enjoyment, satisfaction, and fulfils many of our needs. Their vitamins and minerals provide nutritional security besides generating self-employment to some extent. Solanaceous vegetables contrib ute greatly to total vegetable production (Kalloo, 1996). Worldwide, chilli is grown in the largest area followed by tomato, eggplant, and bell pepper.
