ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we discuss issues concerning the effectiveness of protection from impact, shock, and vibration and the optimization of isolation systems. Mathematical models of systems with isolators are presented, along with their performance criteria. Common types of external disturbances are classified. Basic problems of optimizing the isolator characteristics are then formulated.
