Principle of 1T/2C cell operation Figure 2 shows two capacitors, C l and C2, connected in series for explaining the fundamental principle o f 1T/2C cell operation. To apply the voltage o f Vcc between C l and C2, the voltage o f the connection node is either more than Vcc/2, when C l is more than C2, or less than Vcc/2, when C l is less than C2. The effective capacitance o f a ferroelectric capacitor with switching o f a polarization direction is more than that without switching. A 1T/2C cell therefore can be operated by the method described as follows. Figure 3 shows a explanation o f a 1T/2C cell operation. To write data, the voltage o f Vcc is applied to each capacitor, and capacitors are polarized in opposite direction each other.
