ABSTRACT
Historically, two approaches for performing sample homogenate extraction, cleanup and concentration after removal of debris, have proven to be the most generally applicable; liquid/liquid and liquid/solid or solid phase extraction (SPE). The latter case is also akin to liquid chromatography based on sorbent technology and thin layer chromatography. Both the principles and practice of liquid/liquid extraction are described in Chapter 2.
