ABSTRACT

Of the 15 acetylcholine receptor genes identified in vertebrates five (α-1, β-1, γ, δ, ε) are present in skeletal muscle. The remaining 10 are expressed primarily in the nervous system (Corriveau et al., 1995), although some expression of α-4, α-5, α-7, and β-4 was also observed in developing chick skeletal muscle.
