ABSTRACT

A new physical idea should in the first place be evaluated from the viewpoint of its practical application and usage for the equipment and technology advancement. In this respect the idea of the sound generation by radiation particles should be considered as a productive one, since from the very beginning the radiation-acoustic studies have been carried out with the aim of their practical applications. It is confirmed by a great number of inventions, a part of which has already been applied in physical experiment technique. By the present time, the following areas of the radiation-acoustic applications have been outlined: i) measurement of radiation characteristics [15, 28], [102]-[106], [227, 229, 230]; ii) investigation of physical properties of material under the impact of particle beams [13, 96, 14, 97, 101, 102, 232, 233, 234]; iii) determination of target characteristics [14, 71, 103, 137, 228]; iv) detection of the ultra-high energy solitary particles, in particular, from primary cosmic rays [18, 19, 32], [107]-[109], [116]-[121]; v) modification of the material characteristics under the radiation-acoustic impact [70, 207, 231].
