ABSTRACT
Subsurface drainage by means of buried pipe systems is probably the most comprehensively studied subject in land drainage. As a result, the relationships between the variables and parameters are well established. The remaining design problems are mostly due to the great variability in the geometry and in the hydraulic properties of the soil, and due to the many other interactions between the soil and the system (affecting the choice of materials, methods of installation, etc.).
