ABSTRACT

Closing down underground mines is often combined with the presence of gas hazards in areas of an earlier mining activity. The intensity of the migration of mine gases into the atmosphere depends of the rock fracturing level, rock geological structure and its gas content. In general, the migration of gases in post-mining areas is changeable and in specific places dangerous concentrations of methane or carbon dioxide may occur (Kotarba M. & others 1999, Kulczycki Z. & Grzybek J. 1999).
