ABSTRACT

In this chapter we examine the analogous situation in two dimensions. We want to know if it is similar to the one-dimensional case, or if there are further complications. We can anticipate that the numerical solutions have non-physical numerical oscillations and that we must be careful in our choice of the transition parameters. Even if we are prepared to accept small numerical oscillations in the solution, as the price for the anticipated higher accuracy, we still need to know if there are other issues that should concern us in two or more dimensions.
